Controlling Marestail

The next 2 weeks (Mid June) are the best for tackling the new growth of marestail. Whether done physically or chemically.

Removing the green stems before they have replenished the food stores they have used in growing, permanently weakens the plant.

The top green growth is sterile, and cannot regenerate. It is safe when dried to put on the compost heap. The black underground stems are not safe unless totally dried out. These are better added to your black-bag waste.

Chemical Treatment.

If you would like to have the Marestail on your plot chemically treated please e-mail me and Paul Rooney with your plot number and details of any plants you want protected. Is important that we both know which plots are being treated.

Many thanks,
