Moor Green News Update - October

Hello fellow plotters. This isn't a proper newsletter but a quick update on stuff it would be useful for you all to know about what's going on in Moor Green over rhe next few weeks.

Rent Collection

First weekend went well but there are more than 200 plotters who still need to cough up with the rent. Here are the details as a quick reminder.

NB LATE PAYMENT PENALTY £10 (if rent not settled by 9 November 2025)
NB LATE PAYMENT PENALTY £10 (if rent not settled by 9 November 2025)

You can pay your rents over the next two weekends as follows:

Saturday 11th-October and Sunday 12th    10.00 -1.00 pm

Saturday 18th October and Sunday 19th     10.00 -1.00 pm

Please make every effort to turn up and pay on one of those dates - by card or cheque if possible please.

Mending our Fences

We've recently bought a stack of Heras Fencing to reinforce some weak sections of our boundary - particularly the bottom section where there are loads of footpaths through woodland on the other side. The plan is to get a work party together for a couple of hours on 25th October to take these Heras fencing panels and fit them over the knackered fence sections. It just needs a few pairs of hands to carry the (light) fencing panels from the Clubhouse and fit them where needed. Work commences at 11.00. If you could spare a couple of hours please volunteer by contacting madahal.site1@gmail.com

Bonfires

We're all holding our breath for the start of bonfire month - especially since Storm Amy has removed many dead branches without our agreement. But please do not have any bonfires until Saturday 1st November. Failure to comply with this rule means more work for volunteer committee members, copycat behaviour by other plotholders with stuff to burn and ultimately loss of tenancy because this is a clear breach of the City Council rules. When we do get to November please also remember

  • bonfires are for diseased or dead woody material from your plot, NOT household stuff you can't get rid of (we share your pain - and your trips to Lifford Lane)

  • any burning of plastic will lead directly to a request to terminate tenancy

  • no fire to be left unattended at any time

  • please consider neighbours (fellow plotholders and local residents) when having your bonfire. Excessive smoke is always a problem and people do still hang washing out in the daytime.

Winter Fayre

Saturday 29th November. 11am to 5.00 p.m. (bar open until 7.00 p.m.) There will be craft and gift stalls, tea and cakes, baked potatoes and other hot food. And great beer of course. And please contact Debs at madahal.waitinglist@gmail.com if

  1. You'd like to book a table for your craft/gift stall - price £15 for the day or

  2. You'd like to make some cakes for the cake stall or can help Britt and her team selling on the day. It's a great fund raiser for us and a chance for you to test off your skills before applying for Bake Off.
